Sensado Cigars

Sensado Cigar Company (with roots to CAO Cigars when based in Nashville, TN) spent more than 5 years researching tobaccos, manufacturers and the marketplace in an attempt to recreate those special feelings one gets when they light their cigars around the world. Debuting in January 2016, Sensado’s first release(s): The City Series, aimed to heighten all five of your senses with four cigars; the New York, Shanghai, Rome and the Miami.

The City Series gives the look and feel of regional releases (where you have to travel or know someone in another city to obtain the collection), but with the convenience of being able to purchase all four in one stop.

The New York – Churchill / Wrapper-Connecticut Ecuador / Binder & Filler-Nicaragua          mild to medium body and strength smoke

The Miami – Robusto / Wrapper-Brazil Apapiraca / Binder & Filler-Nicaragua           medium to full strength smoke with a transitioning body

The Shanghai – Petit Corona / Wrapper-Indonesia / Binder & Filler-Nicaragua         medium in strength and body and also a transitioning cigar

The Rome – Torpedo / Wrapper-Connecticut Ecuador Dark / Binder & Filler-Nicaragua         mild in strength and medium in body

This is an interesting line of cigars and can show you how blends can be unique in taste with just the slightest change of the wrappers, binders, and fillers and the volume of each tobacco leaf used in a cigar. Also, what do I mean by transitioning cigar? Some cigars are made to remain with the same strength and flavor throughout the smoke. But some cigars are made to release different nuances from the first light  at the foot through the middle and to the end of the smoking experience. I feel that The Miami and The Shanghai are made this way. I express it because I want you to go through the entire cigar so that you are able to taste the different experiences.

I hope you enjoy each cigar and that you will allow yourself to try each in its own setting so that you can share what you have enjoyed and maybe what doesn’t fit your taste.

These cigars are being carried at your local tobacconist in Madison, TN- The Cigar Club, so stop in and pick up your favorites.

Thanks again,

Dave and Evan

Oliveros Gran Retorno

Oliveros2

We have 3 blends to try.

I wanted everybody to try them before you had a chance to prejudge the smokes. Enjoying a smoke without preconceptions allows you to experience the burn, construction, and most importantly uninhibited flavor.

I’ve already heard a lot of positive comments so it will be interesting to hear what everyone thinks once you see the blends.

Sizing was 6 inches by 50 ring gauge (Swing-name of size)

Maduro Blend: Wrapper-Nicaraguan Maduro / Filler-Nicaraguan Habano(Esteli, Condega, Ometepe) / Binder-Nicaraguan Habano

Habano Blend: Wrapper-Ecuadorian Habano / Filler-Nicaraguan(Jalapa, Condega, Pueblo Nuevo) / Binder-Nicaraguan(Esteli)

Connecticut Blend: Wrapper-Honduran Connecticut / Filler-Honduran, Nicaraguan, Dominican / Binder-Honduran Habano

These were blended by Rafael Nodal, who also made the 93-rated Aging Room Quattro F55. I really enjoyed the Connecticut because it maintained flavor and character while still being mild.

I hope each of you enjoy the cigars and please share your comments.

Choices

Hey my Cigar Buddies

We had some choices to try this time. I hope you enjoyed trying some different blends.

First we had a cigar picked by Steve Bridges to try…the Biely Toro rolled in Esteli, Nicaragua. The wrapper and binder is Habano grown in Ecuador and the filler is a blend of Corojo and Criollo harvested in Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa.

Next there is the Sancho Panza Triple Anejo Gordo. This Honduran made cigar has a high-priming Nicarauguan Jalapa Sun Grown wrapper with a US Conneticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper and then filler mixture is a blend of Ecudorian Sumatra, US Broadleaf, and Brazilian Arapiraca.

Then there is a Nicaraguan Toro rolled by Noel Rojas called Project 7. This is a mild to medium smoke with a Hybrid Wrapper, Corojo Binder, and Criollo Filler.

Each of received another Dark Beach by Blaine again. Read last weeks post to learn more about Blaine’s smoke.

I hope all of you are enjoying trying some different blends. It looks like we will not do another round until the end of July to the first week of August, so go by The Cigar Club in Madison, TN and support the store. The Crowned Heads Las Calaveras 2016 rolled by the My Father factory is still in stock but very limited, so go get some before they’re gone.

Dark Beach-Light it UP

Most of us have had the privilege to try Blaine Snodgrass’ cigar….the Dark Beach.

This robusto just leaves you wanting to light one right after the other. So much flavor with no harshness or bitterness during or after the smoking experience. I believe this cigar has the capabilities to reach a broad spectrum of cigar smokers. With an amazing burn pattern from consistent construction you have the ability to light the foot and begin to immediately enjoy the smoke.

The filler is Nicaraguan and Honduran blend, the binder is Connecticut Broadleaf, and the wrapper is Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro. This cigar will be featured at The Cigar Club in Madison, TN for a starting price of $6.29. Blaine being the Cool, Smooth, and Outstanding guy has made a cigar that is everything that he loves in a smoke and everything that he wants to share with his friends…..Cool, Smooth, and Outstanding Smoke.

Let your friends know about the Dark Beach and Please post your thoughts on this Blog. I look forward to hearing your descriptions on the cigar.

LFD- La Nox

Third Round-Cigar Friends

The La Flor Dominicana La Nox is the newest release from the company blended by Tony Gomez, son of the famed Litto Gomez.

La Nox translated from Latin means The Night      th

LFD website description of The La Nox: “Dark in appearance and in flavor, La Nox features a sweet Brazilian maduro wrapper, a San Andres binder and a blend of our own Dominican Piloto and Pelo de Oro fillers. Its smooth smoke and rich flavor were crafted for elegance and power. The result is a cigar that embodies its name and the serene experience that only the night can provide.”

Each of you will get 2 of these to smoke, so let us know what YOU think. It is important, as this is the first cigar that we are trying and testing for Patricia. These will be selling at The Cigar Club in Madison. The price will be $11.89 per stick at the store next week if you want more.

So you can reply with the Hammer symbol grading of 1-5, but your description and what you like or don’t like will help the store to describe the cigar to regular and new customers.

Mostly, We hope each of you enjoy the cigar and we look forward to hearing from each of you.

Ready to Smoke

Our First round of cigars are in….

Evan chose the Velvet Elvis Toro for our first smoke and Dave picked a Jericho Hill Lancero

The Velvet Elvis is a medium/full bodied cigar that is a love-fest of corojo tobaccos. The corojo is from just about every region in Nicaragua (Esteli, Jalapa, Condesa, etc).

The Jericho Hill boasts a dark and sultry Mexican San Andres wrapper, Nicaraguan long-fillers and binder. This is a special edition size called “12 Honest Men”. Some of ya’ll may have tried the other sizes at The Cigar Club in Madison, TN.

The Velvet Elvis we may be able to order again if we like enough as a group.

For the Jericho Hill cigar, Patricia can order into the shop if enough of us would like for her to keep on hand.

Please reply to the posting so that we can see each others feedback as you smoke the cigars.

Also, look around for other cigars yourselves when travelling around this Summer. If you see something you like then take a picture and send to us along with the name or manufacturer. Then I will look and see if we can order for the group to try.

I hope you enjoy the smokes. Sometimes we may run across a dud and many times we may find things that we really like. The point in trying something different is to see what is out there(to smoke guys and gals). NO FREAKY BUSINESS!

I’m glad all of you wanted to participate. We actually have 16 members right now, so the group is closed to adding anymore at this point. That way we will be able to fulfill all the orders in the future.

Because we jumped from 9 to 16 in the day after I had already placed the cigar order, I was not able to fulfill all the orders. The guys that paid did get their full order though. So really let me know what you like in this round because I am not trying the smokes. No worries, that is part of starting a group.

Mostly, Enjoy time with friends and Enjoy it more when you can smoke with a friend.

Fire ‘Em Up

Okay boys, we’re getting closer.

We’ve gotten more organized and things are ramping up.

Here’s the basics. We’re a group/club/whatever and we’re going in together to get some sticks. The sticks are gonna be hard to find stuff and limited editions, etc. We’re gonna try to get a cigar a month, or so.

The basic structure of the RHS is a share. We’re going with a minimum of two shares to start, which means you get two cigars. If you want more shares, let us know.

We are almost to the point where we have two boxes worth of shares. If you think you might want more, now is the time.

How to pay? This is a fun project so we want to keep it light and easy. We also don’t want any member to go in debt so we want to pay in advance when possible. Basically, we’re going to pay $10 a share to Massingill. He’s our treasurer. Sometimes it will be more and sometimes less depending on the costs, but if we keep paid up, it gives us flexibility. So give Dave some money!

We’re a group and everyone’s opinion counts, but at the end of the day Dave and Evan will make the decisions on what we are gonna buy. This is simply because as a group, someone has to make a final decision.

You can quit at any time but don’t be an asshole and leave us hanging with cigars. We want to create an atmosphere were the club members look for cigars and we’re all active.

We got this blog going so everyone can comment, post links, etc.

It should be a lot of fun!
